Runnels Central Appraisal District website used for property search, mapping, forms, exemptions and appraisal help.
1Verify the official website
Confirm the page identifies Runnels Central Appraisal District and uses the runnelscad.org domain.
2Select Property Search
RCAD first shows a disclaimer because the search tool opens through an outside vendor.
3Click Continue
Read the disclaimer. Then continue to the authorized property database linked by RCAD.
4Use Online Map after searching
Save the account number, owner and legal description before comparing the mapped parcel.
5Use Applications & Forms
Open this section for homestead, agricultural, rendition, address-change and protest forms.
6Do not pay through RCAD
For taxes owed, open the separate Runnels County Tax Office website.
Best workflow: Open Property Search, accept the disclaimer, find the account, save the key identifiers and then move to the map, forms, protest information or Tax Office.
How to Complete a Runnels County CAD Property Search
Read the property-search disclaimer.
RCAD explains that the search opens through a third-party vendor.
Select Continue.
This opens the current search system authorized by RCAD.
Start with the owner name.
Enter the last name first. Add the first name or initial only when too many results appear.
Try a simplified address.
Use the street number and main street name. Remove punctuation, directions and street type when necessary.
Use an account or property number when available.
A prior notice, tax statement, closing file or saved record may provide the cleanest match.
Use the legal description for rural land.
Search or compare the abstract, survey, subdivision, lot, block, tract or acreage wording.
Open every likely match.
One owner may have a residence, farm, separate tract, business account, manufactured home or mineral interest.
Confirm the 2026 tax year.
Review the current value and use prior years for comparison.
Save the complete account.
Print or save the owner, property number, legal description, values, exemptions and property details.
Local search tip: Address searching often works well inside Ballinger, Winters and Miles. For rural land near Rowena, Wingate, Norton, Hatchel, Lowake or Maverick, the owner, abstract, survey or property number may work better.

RCAD published June 1, 2026 as the deadline to protest proposed 2026 property values.
The standard deadline has passed. RCAD continues to answer questions and help with matters such as exemption applications. However, a timely protest was normally required for a value change during the regular equalization process.

July 31, 2026 status: The regular June 1 protest deadline has passed. Check the live account and contact RCAD for the current certification, correction or exemption status.
Deadline rule: A later notice may carry its own deadline. Read every notice immediately instead of relying only on the countywide date.
Runnels County’s 2026 Circuit Breaker Limitation
For 2026, qualifying non-homestead real property valued at $5 million or less may receive a 20% appraisal limitation.
RCAD applies the benefit automatically. The property owner does not file a separate application.
Who may qualify
Real property valued at $5 million or less that is not already receiving the residence-homestead limitation.
Ownership period
The owner must generally hold the property for at least one full calendar year before qualifying.
How it works
Net appraised value is limited to the lower of current market value or the prior net appraised value plus 20%.
No application
RCAD calculates the limitation automatically when the account qualifies.
Sale resets the base
A transfer removes the prior owner’s limitation until the new owner meets the qualification rules.
Current authorization
Texas authorized the limitation for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 tax years.
Do not confuse values: The limitation can reduce net appraised value while the market value remains higher. Review both figures.
How to Use the Runnels County CAD Parcel Map
Find the appraisal account first.
Save the account number, owner, situs and legal description.
Select Form 50-114.
Use the current Residence Homestead Exemption Application.

Complete special ownership sections.
Include trust, heir-property, spouse, partial-interest or manufactured-home information when relevant.
Attach the required records.
Incomplete information can delay or prevent approval.
Submit the application.
Mail, email, fax or deliver it using an RCAD-approved method.
Keep proof of filing.
Save the signed form, attachments and delivery confirmation.
Verify the account.
Reopen the property record and confirm the exemption appears for the correct year.
Buyer warning: A seller’s homestead exemption, appraisal cap, tax ceiling or deferral does not automatically transfer to the buyer.
Agricultural and Wildlife Appraisal in Runnels County

Home-based businesses

Late rendition penalty
A late or missing rendition can create a penalty equal to 10% of the tax imposed on the property.

RCAD contracts oil, gas and mineral appraisal work to Wardlaw Appraisal Group.
Manufactured homes

State the requested result.
Give the requested value, correction, exemption or agricultural decision.
Keep filing proof.
Save the signed form, attachments, delivery record and hearing notice.

Required notice was not received
Explain when the value was discovered and verify the mailing address.

Written account changes: Send ownership, mailing-address or name questions to deeds@runnelscad.org.
