The Right Channel for Every Question
county-cad.org/ is editorial — we cannot pull Texas property records, perform title searches, file ARB protests on your behalf, or provide FCRA-regulated services. This page sets out exactly what we can help with, what we cannot, and where to send each kind of question.
What We Can Help With
- Corrections to any Texas CAD URL, exemption procedure, ARB deadline, walkthrough step, address, or phone number on the site
- Reports of broken CAD property-search portal links — top-priority correction queue
- Reports of exemption procedures or ARB deadlines that don’t match the CAD’s current published page
- Privacy and data-rights requests under the Texas TDPSA and other U.S. state privacy laws
- Cookie preferences and Global Privacy Control questions
- Accessibility issues and reports of barriers using assistive technology
- DMCA copyright notices and counter-notices
- Press inquiries about the site, methodology, or editorial decisions
- Editorial questions about specific CAD guides, methodology, or sourcing
- Notification of CAD chief appraiser changes, portal redesigns, or major procedural changes after a Texas legislative session
What We Cannot Help With
- Pulling Texas property records — every record is held by the CAD; access is through the CAD’s own portal
- Performing title searches or providing title-insurance data — title work is licensed activity under Texas law
- Tenant-screening, employment background checks, credit decisions, insurance underwriting, or any FCRA-permissible-purpose request — we are not a CRA and any such request is rejected
- Filing ARB protests on your behalf — that requires TDLR licensure under Tex. Occ. Code Ch. 1152, or representation by an attorney, or by the property owner directly
- Interpreting whether you specifically qualify for residence homestead, over-65, disabled person, disabled veteran, surviving spouse, agricultural-use, timber, or wildlife management exemption — consult the CAD or a TDLR-licensed property tax consultant
- Predicting whether your ARB protest will succeed — depends on county-specific evidence and ARB panel discretion
- Resolving boundary disputes, easement questions, or zoning matters — those go to the CAD, the County Surveyor / Clerk, and a Texas real estate attorney
- Property tax billing, payment plans, installment plans, or delinquency questions — those go to the County Tax Assessor-Collector (separate office from the CAD in every Texas county)
- Deed copies, deed history, lien searches — those go to the County Clerk (separate from both the CAD and Tax Assessor-Collector)
- Adding paid placement, “preferred listings,” or sponsored CAD guide content — we do not accept paid placement
- Legal advice on any Texas property matter — consult a Texas-licensed attorney
- Financial or tax advice — consult a CPA, a TDLR-licensed Property Tax Consultant, or an attorney
